I told yous nearly all the unfinished projects I had simply about the solid on my Fri post. Well, this one, the kitchen island, it's officially done!
I told yous how I flora the corbels at Home Depot too how they sparked the makeover. The corbels installed real easily, I exclusively used iv screws, the ones to the wooden surface of the island, I didn't role screws or anything going upward to the countertop.
I also added beadboard on the within of the shelves. The beadboard was a remnant piece I had from the hutch makeover.
Once done amongst corbels too beadboard I gave the whole isle ii coats of ASCP - Duck Egg blue.
Well, the ii coats of pigment were followed yesteryear a proficient sanding. Somehow the texture of chalk pigment is inwards the crude oil side to me. I gave it a lilliputian lamentable on all the edges too.
After dusting it, the clear wax was applied too buffed. You tin encounter the departure of the waxed vs. the un-waxed parts patch working on it, it's darker.
The glaze dries inwards nearly 45 min. Once dry, yous tin apply some other coat of clear wax to protect the glazed surfaces.
The ii doors too drawer fronts were given the same treatment.
1. Paint
2. Sand
3. Wax too buff
4. Apply glaze
5. Remove glaze amongst moisture cloth
6. Wax
7. Buff
8. All done!
I'm loving this makeover, the wax gives it a dainty soft sheen.
The glaze gives to a greater extent than graphic symbol to the beadboard.
I looked inwards my erstwhile hardware stash too picked these pulls. I intend they become much amend amongst the novel style.
The panels/molding that were difficult to respect amongst the previous chocolate-brown coloring stuff are directly to a greater extent than noticeable.
Sometimes the coloring stuff looks blue-ish, some other times is similar green.
In general, it gives the kitchen a much brighter look.
:)
You tin banking enterprise tally the previous makeover where a builder's degree cabinet isle was given a totally novel look amongst an added shelf too microwave within it.
