I told you lot most all the unfinished projects I had to a greater extent than or less the solid on my Fri post. Well, this one, the kitchen island, it's officially done!
I told you lot how I constitute the corbels at Home Depot together with how they sparked the makeover. The corbels installed rattling easily, I alone used iv screws, the ones to the wooden surface of the island, I didn't role screws or anything going upward to the countertop.
I also added beadboard on the within of the shelves. The beadboard was a remnant piece I had from the hutch makeover.
Once done alongside corbels together with beadboard I gave the whole isle 2 coats of ASCP - Duck Egg blue.
Well, the 2 coats of pigment were followed past times a skillful sanding. Somehow the texture of chalk pigment is inwards the fossil oil side to me. I gave it a piffling pitiable on all the edges too.
After dusting it, the clear wax was applied together with buffed. You tin run across the departure of the waxed vs. the un-waxed parts piece working on it, it's darker.
The glaze dries inwards most 45 min. Once dry, you lot tin apply some other coat of clear wax to protect the glazed surfaces.
The 2 doors together with drawer fronts were given the same treatment.
1. Paint
2. Sand
3. Wax together with buff
4. Apply glaze
5. Remove glaze alongside moisture cloth
6. Wax
7. Buff
8. All done!
I'm loving this makeover, the wax gives it a prissy soft sheen.
The glaze gives to a greater extent than graphic symbol to the beadboard.
I looked inwards my quondam hardware stash together with picked these pulls. I intend they become much improve alongside the novel style.
The panels/molding that were difficult to break alongside the previous brownish colouring are instantly to a greater extent than noticeable.
Sometimes the colouring looks blue-ish, some other times is similar green.
In general, it gives the kitchen a much brighter look.
:)
You tin banking concern represent the previous makeover where a builder's flat cabinet isle was given a totally novel look alongside an added shelf together with microwave within it.
